General Announcement:
The Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton Public Schools is seeking candidates for the full time position of Superintendent of Schools. The successful candidate will begin work on or around July 1, 2019 and will receive a competitive salary and benefit package commensurate with experience and qualifications. The district’s mission:  “Our District will empower learning, energize achievement, and enhance community. Excellence without excuse!”
 
Position Requirements: 
Applicants must hold a license as Superintendent of Schools issued by the State of Minnesota or be eligible to obtain a license at the time the application is submitted. Experience as a school superintendent is preferred. Experience as a principal or similar public school district administrative position is otherwise required.
 
Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and experience in the general administration of a comprehensive program of instructional and support services for pre-K through 12th grade students and community education patrons.
  • Proficiency in communications and public relations including a record of positive involvement in the community.
  • Knowledge and experience in the development and implementation of instructional and support programs for learners of all ages.
  • Knowledge and experience in the management and development of school personnel.
  • Knowledge and experience of Minnesota public school finance and school district financial management including budget development, deployment, and monitoring.
  • Successful experience in building a fund balance, and advocating for additional funding locally and at the legislature.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and articulate a vision with staff, students, parents and community.
  • Knowledge and experience in positive interactions with the local School Board and other governmental units.
  • Knowledge and experience with personalized learning and standards-based grading.

School District Information: 

  • The Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton School District serves nearly 700 K-12 students. In addition, children, families, and other district residents are served through early childhood and community education programs. Educational and support programs are delivered in one PreK-12 school building.
  • The district employs 110 licensed and non-licensed staff members. The superintendent is supported by one elementary principal, and one high school principal. In addition, a Buildings and Grounds Director, a Community Education Coordinator/Activities Director, and Technology and Integration Director report to the superintendent. Financial support is provided by a business manager. Support is also provided by an Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent and Payroll.
  • The district is proud of a comprehensive program of studies and supports a strong fine arts program. The elementary school has incorporated a PK-6 grade comprehensive program.  The high school curriculum includes: Art, Physical Education, Health, Music, Industrial Technology, Career and Technical, and Core Classes.
  • Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton is home to a wide variety of individuals and interests. It is nestled in South Central Minnesota and is within an hour’s drive of Mankato, Rochester, and the Twin Cities.
  • An academic leader, Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton has forged new ground in technology, personalized learning, standards-based grading, and innovative programs. 
  • The school district’s operating budget is $9 million.
