The School District of Clayton is seeking an educational professional with strong leadership abilities for an Athletic Director position at Clayton High School beginning July 1, 2019.

The Athletic Director provides coordination and leadership to ensure the effective and efficient development, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive athletic program for students in accordance with state law, MSHSAA requirements and board policy.

The successful candidate:

Oversees the general administration of the athletics program for Clayton High School including the budget, reports, MSHSAA reports and registration, and contracts.

Schedules the master calendar of athletic events.

Acts as liaison to Parks and Recreation, Center of Clayton, MSHSAA, NCSS, League and Country Athletic Organizations, booster clubs, fundraising activities for athletics, and the Athletic Advisory Committee.

Is primary decision maker for the cancellation and rescheduling of games due to weather conditions, etc.

Completes student paperwork for transfer students, tuition pay students, and employee children attending CHS to ensure eligibility.

Oversees Homecoming athletic activities.

Approves the rental schedules at Gay Field and Shaw Park.

Updates the Athletic Handbook for athletes and parents; updates the Coaches handbook.

Is responsible for selection and assignment of coaches, including verifying eligibility and adherence to requirements.

Is supervisor for Administrative Assistant to the Athletic Director and the Assistant Athletic Director.

Inspects athletic facilities and liaisons with maintenance department to schedule repairs.

Supervises the Athletic Trainer.

Arranges for contracting, officials, transportation, supervision and other necessary factors relating to each scheduled event.

Works with building and district administration to develop and administer the athletic budget.

Supervises the inventorying and distribution of athletic supplies, uniforms and equipment.

Meets with coaches regularly to discuss student eligibility, care of equipment, accident procedures, rule changes, activity policies and other relevant topics.

Collects and analyzes information to annually evaluate coaches by written report and/or conference.

Works with building administration in making coaching assignments.

Assists the building administration with the development of a replacement schedule for equipment, supplies and uniforms.

Supervises the cleaning, storage and care of all athletic equipment.

Notifies the principal, district communications office, and the Clayton community of any accomplishments and/or events that will provide good school and community relations for the school district.

Ensures that appropriate rules and regulations governing the conduct of athletic activities are followed.

Coordinates the scheduling of practice fields, gyms and other related areas on behalf of district coaches.

Effectively represents and communicates the athletic program to parents and booster organizations.

Shares in the responsibilities of clarifying and implementing personnel policies.

Other duties as requested by principal or District administration.

Education: Masters degree is required.

Certification: Missouri Teacher or Administrator Certification is required.

Experience: Minimum of 3 years teaching and coaching experience required. Three years administrative, leadership, or other supervisory experience preferred.

Work Calendar: 260 day calendar.
