    PURPOSE

    To provide strategies for teaching and supporting teachers in the effective implementation of best practices related to instruction, as well as supporting the rollout, implementation and documentation of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP).

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
    • Teach, model, and facilitate research-based best practices within the school"s instructional program
    • Assist teachers with the collection and analysis of data results
    • Evaluate student achievement and assist with placing students in the appropriate intervention and support service
    • Recognize needs and make recommendations for appropriate instructional materials and assessments that directly support and align to the Common Core State Standards
    • Meet regularly with PLC teams and the principal to support the continuing development of research-based instructional practices and progress while also assisting in planning "next steps" for student and school improvement
    • Collaborate with teachers to help them learn to more efficiently identify the instructional needs of students, to set learning goals and targets, and to problem solve to develop best practices for continuous academic growth of students
    • Provide professional development on best practices in literacy and/or math instruction across the curriculum
    • Support teachers as they learn to implement the components of the math and/or literacy block
    • Collaborate with the principal to help identify areas of need for the school"s professional development plan, structure related coaching, and identify specific, measurable and attainable benchmarks for teacher and student performance
    • Support teachers to learn specific and differentiated strategies that enable teachers to meet the needs of all learners
    • Network with other instructional coaches to share best practices and participate fully in ongoing professional development to extend literacy, mathematics and instructional competencies in all content areas
    • Lead and participate in all school-based teams as directed, including Instructional Leadership Teams, Professional Learning Communities, Student Success Teams, Positive School Experience Teams, etc.
    • Facilitate the creation, reflection and review of Fremont"s Programme of Inquiry (POI) as well as designing a system of organization for all teacher-created curriculum within Google Drive
    • Seek out vertical and horizontal alignment within the IB transdisciplinary themes and ensure that all essential elements are expressed throughout every grade level
    • Assist in coordinating collaborative planning with all teachers while utilizing the PYP unit planner
    • Alongside the Principal, collaboratively create an Action Plan for the implementation of programme using the IB Standards and Practices
    • Establish and maintain a record of completed IB Primary Years Programme planners.
    • Communicate to stakeholders regarding the Primary Years Programme
    • Attend monthly meetings of the International Baccalaureate Schools of Michigan (IBSOM)
    • Coordinate IB professional development and training for new staff, as well as continuous training for current staff, while keeping a record of workshop attendance and school visits to ensure equality of opportunity and ongoing needs
    • Maintain accurate documentation and archiving of the IB programme, while preparing and submitting any documentation required for authorization and evaluation.
    • Communicate with the PTA, families and district regarding the outcomes of the program, including publishing the school"s Programme of Inquiry on the website.


    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Five years of successful classroom experience supported by evaluation rating of effective or better.
