QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must hold, or be eligible to hold, a certificate issued by the Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board with an endorsement as a music teacher. Other desired qualifications include: Commitment to student learning; knowledge of effective instructional practices which emphasize active student engagement, participation, and thinking; ability to work collaboratively with colleagues to build cross-curricular teams and engaging educational experiences for students; ability to work and build strong relationships with students, colleagues, and parents; strong content and pedagogical knowledge base; strong classroom management skills; enthusiastic; excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to foster a love of music in students; and willingness to participate on school and district committees and in required in-service activities. Possible courses: Music Appreciation, Music Exploration, Music Perspectives, High School Instrumental Music

JOB DESCRIPTION: WHS is looking for a creative individual with a passion to share and teach their love of music and build a program for at-risk high school students in an alternative setting. Our program objectives are:
1. Develop individual musical interests and skills which allow participation in music making throughout life.
2. Expand knowledge, awareness, and appreciation of different kinds of music to cultivate discriminating consumers.
3. Nurture an enjoyment and understanding of music, enriching the quality of life.
4. Develop critical thinking and analytical skill in discussing various elements of music.
5. Explore their own musical voice through building a basic understanding of musical structure.
6. Understand relationships between music and other arts and disciplines.
7. Understand music in relation to history and culture.

Note: If the successful candidate has expertise/experience in culinary or other electives, a portion of the FTE could be used to expand elective offerings
