THE OPPORTUNITY

Reporting to the Vice President, System Advising, this person will work part-time on specific school system engagements, as needed by the System Advising Team. Typically, each System Advising Consultant will manage 1-2 system engagements that each require approximately 10-20 hours/week. Each engagement will entail two virtual meetings, various virtual check-ins with external project managers, and will require travel to be on site for two in-person meetings with our system partners.

The System Advising Consultant will increase ANet's impact by building the capacity of school system leaders across the country. This individual will join ANet's small, but growing System Advising team and will sit alongside system leaders of school districts, state departments of education, and CMOs in order to influence their ability to make decisions about their assessment and instructional strategy. In doing so, they will create lasting, positive change with schools, such as improving the quality and purpose of their assessments.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Lead short- and long-term engagements with system leaders in the areas of assessment, materials and professional development

Work to understand system needs in larger, complex and political systems, including what they value, and continue to diagnose and adjust the course of engagement as work is executed

 

Build relationships with key senior leaders and convene decision makers to help them take action

 

Design and deliver professional development on-site or virtually to senior system leaders and interdepartmental system teams that build capacity and drive towards targeted goals

 

Create and aggregate all the deliverables and synthesize the results of system engagements in order to codify findings and best practices for system leaders

 

Support system leadership teams in developing an assessment strategy, including a vision for assessment, a streamlined inventory, and assessment guidance

 

Draw upon key System Advising tools, resources and recommended engagement timelines and design and adapt materials as needed to meet our system partners' needs

 

Own responsibility for the overall success of engagements, that address a range of academic strategy challenges, including client satisfaction and system level change outcomes, including improved assessment quality and decreased assessment volume

 

Collaborate with System Advising team

Leverage other System Advising team members for thought partnership as roadblocks arise in engagements

 

Participate in weekly System Advising meetings and facilitate content as needed

 

Proactively identify ways to build the team's capacity for impact through individual contributions, innovating, and problem-solving

 

WHO YOU ARE AND WHAT YOU BRING

In order to be successful in this role, candidates must demonstrate the following:

You have familiarity implementing the Common Core instructional shifts as a teacher and/or instructional leader and are knowledgeable about standards- and data-driven instruction

 

You are a strong strategic thinking and analytical skills allow you to assess multiple data points, quickly diagnose needs, and determine solutions

 

You have prior experience coaching, leading professional development, and/or managing academic programs at a district/CMO-level

 

You know how to develop and motivate others towards results by building trusting relationships and take an adaptive coaching approach to helping others think through complex situations

 

You are a compelling presenter and facilitator who can explain complex problems and solutions in clear, concise and engaging ways to adult learners

 

You thrive in feedback-driven environments and see feedback on your work as opportunities to learn and grow

 

You bring a record of success as a team member working in close partnership with others; you are supportive, responsive, and flexible and thrive working interdependently in an entrepreneurial environment

 

You have a passionate commitment to and a sense of urgency for the support of schools, along with a belief that all students can achieve at high levels

Ideal candidates may also demonstrate the following preferred qualifications:

Expertise in building and leading academic and instruction strategies in K-3
