Founded in 1881 by the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary, The Academy of the Holy Names is a Catholic, coeducational elementary school and a college preparatory high school for young women. Employment Opportunity: The Academy of the Holy Names seeks a High School Counselor/Psychologist to provide emotional, academic, college and career guidance to students to allow each student, as a whole person, to achieve her full potential for the 2019-2020 school year.

Qualifications:  Florida licensure/certification as either a School Psychologist or High School Counselor.

At least 5 years’ experience in a high school setting.

Self-starter and team player.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Decisiveness and a willing to make and share decisions in a timely manner.

Knowledge of the college admissions process, their selection processes, academic programs, and admissions policies.

Experience in a Catholic school preferred but not required.

Position Responsibilities Meet with students encountering academic or emotional challenges.

  • Coordination of standardized testing.
  • Assist with the scheduling and registering of students throughout the year.
  • Facilitate support groups as needed.
  • Work with parents regarding academic progress of students and college planning.
  • Occasional evening events/presentations for parents.
  • Work with Administration on issues of student wellness throughout the year.
  • Frequent communication with teachers, staffings for students, etc.
  • Working with or counseling freshmen and sophomores to prepare them for the college process.
  • Writing letters of recommendation for college applications.
  • Meeting with students and parents in group and one on one settings to educate and guide them through the college admission process.
  • Liaison with college professionals/Advocate for our students in the college admission process.
