    Location: To be determined Supervisor: Executive Director of School Leadership Employment Period: 12 Months Employment Status: Full-time Start Date: Juy 1, 2019 Salary: Commensurate with experience
    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Under general supervision of the Executive Director of School Leadership, the Principal provides leadership and administration which will motivate instructional and support personnel to strive for superior performance in order to dramatically improve student performance by providing the best possible opportunities for student growth and development, both educationally and personally.

    The candidate must possess the qualities of an exceptional educational leader who can demonstrate the following:

    • Designing and implementing strategies to dramatically improve student achievement
    • Building a high-performing faculty, staff and leadership team to achieve and sustain results using a distributive leadership model
    • Building a positive school culture and climate that supports the whole student
    • Leveraging research and data to drive initiatives and instruction
    • Recruit, select, evaluate, develop, motivate, and retain high-performing leaders, teachers, and staff?Consistently inspire excellence and promote positive school climate and high morale
    • Develop effective systems and processes to achieve desired results
    • Create a sense of urgency and take immediate action to ensure and maintain a growth trajectory
    • Foster a professional learning community and opportunities for teacher leadership through collaboration, delegation, and shared decision making to accelerate student achievement
    • Communicate high expectations and create standards for excellence with students, teachers, and staff
    • Ability to develop, articulate and implement a vision of learning that is shared and supported by the school community
    • Computer competency and familiarity with emerging technologies and their instructional management applications
    • Ensure efficient management of school operations and resources for a safe and effective learning environment
    • Create a building culture based on integrity, responsibility, innovation, excellence and professionalism
    • Collaboration with families and community members and the ability to respond to diverse community interests by mobilizing community resources
    • Foster teacher professional development and capability to coach and motivate employees
    • Ability to develop, assess and support effective teaching
    • Comprehensive knowledge of the most recent developments in curriculum, instruction and the use of data to inform decision making
    • Effective communication skills and strategies
    • Innovative thinking that can help achieve the vision and mission of Hampton City Schools

    JOB REQUIREMENTS:

    • Candidates must possess or be eligible for a Virginia Postgraduate Professional License with an Administration and Supervision K-12 or Virginia Secondary Principal endorsement.
    • A minimum of three years of teaching experience and a minimum of three years as a secondary administrator or a related administrative position.
