  • Ability to work for 30 flexible hours before and after the summer school session.



JOB DESCRIPTION:
Orientation: July 3, 2019

Program Dates: July 8-August 9, 2019

Elementary Locations: Abingdon, Barrett, Carlin Springs, Hoffman-Boston, Taylor

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work in cooperation with the Early Childhood Supervisor, Early Childhood Summer School Coordinators, Summer School Principals, Teachers and Instructional Assistants.


  • Design and facilitate professional development meetings.


  • Maintain summer school materials and curriculum inventories.


  • Coordinate pre- and post- assessment for all kindergarten students and classrooms.


  • Communicate with teachers at multiple sites to support assessment, instruction, and day-to-day management of the summer school program.


  • Must be physically able to lift boxes of materials and sometimes transport them between schools.


  • Support the curriculum implementation for both pre-kindergarten and kindergarten teachers and students.


  • Model or conduct whole group or small group lessons.


  • Assist with the administration and compiling of pre- and post- assessment data.


  • Restock and distribute curriculum and instructional materials.


  • Plan with teachers before and after summer school session hours.


  • Conduct regular meetings with teachers and provide necessary professional learning.


  • Provide on-going support of curriculum and instruction.



EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous experience teaching summer school.


  • At least three years of successful early childhood or primary teaching experience and/or experience coordinating summer school.

SALARY:
Summer School teachers who are APS employees during the year will be paid the Non-VRS equivalant rate.Retired APS teachers will be paid $47.73 per hour per APS pay plan.Non-APS licensed summer school teachers will be paid $32.50 per hour.
