PURPOSE: Create and maintain optimum learning and working environments for students and staff in schools and other district facilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Leads the work of others to ensure that district facilities are clean, safe, secure, and in good repair to provide safe, comfortable work and learning environments for staff and students.Working alone or as a team leader, arranges physical spaces, equipment, and materials as needed to enhance work and learning environments; including public use of facilities.Leads the work of others to ensure that building systems (i.e. mechanical, electrical, heating) function to specifications to maintain high quality learning and working environments that meet district and legal standards.Supervises students outside the classroom, as assigned, to support the district/building's discipline and instructional program.Under direction, provides leadership to ensure that emergency response systems, equipment and procedures in a school or other facility operate to provide maximum protection for the safety of students and staff.Serves as a member of the district and county-wide hazard response team to protect students, staff, members of the public and district property in emergency situations.Work collaboratively with other staff as assigned by the principal to manage the operations of a school or other district facility as assigned.Provides other related services as assigned.

  • Knowledge equivalent to successful completion of campus steward training.Ability to use independent judgment to maintain building and grounds in clean and safe condition.Ability to operate building systems; ability to suggest and implement improvements.Ability to perform maintenance for building and/or equipment, as assigned.Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.Ability to use independent judgment to solve problems and resolve issues.Ability to use office equipment and technology.Ability to independently plan, organize, and carry out work assignments, and to plan and direct the work of assigned staff or students.Ability to interact effectively and collaboratively with individuals and groups of all ages, which may require conflict resolution skills.Ability to use independent judgment and sound decision-making to act in emergency situations.Ability to understand and implement the school/program's student discipline policy and to manage student behavior effectively outside a classroom setting.Ability to understand the building/program's goals and carry out work assignments in a manner that supports these goals.Ability to obtain specialized training and/or certification as required.Ability to travel among district facilities as needed; if driving, the ability to meet district driving standards.Standard First Aid certification, or the ability to obtain certification within two months of hire, may be required.
