TITLE: Preschool Parent Monitor (Part-Time) CLASSIFICATION: Non-Certified
FLSA: Non-Exempt DEPARTMENT: Vivian Adams
SALARY: PFA Expansion Grant Stipend WORK YEAR: 180 Days
REPORTS TO: Principal or Designee
JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Summary: The Preschool Parent Monitors are responsible for assisting with monitoring breakfast and lunch duty. The Preschool Parent Monitors will also monitor the hallways and classrooms before and after school. Under the general direction of the Principal, the Preschool Parent Monitor is a parent who has experience caring for children ages three to four years.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Parent of student in East St. Louis School District 189/Vivian Adams
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Experience working with three and four year old children
- Caring and compassionate attitude
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Regular attendance to perform assigned duties
2. Assist teachers and staff in maintaining a safe environment.
3. Monitor children during activities and interact with the children to enhance their learning.
4. Work with teachers to maintain communication with parents.
5. Encourage age-appropriate socialization learning to ensure children learn basic skills and concepts, such as communication, manners, sharing, etc.
6. Maintain a safe workplace by monitoring children for health, behavioral issues and report concerns to staff.
7. Supervise students in the cafeteria, hallways, and on field trips.
8. Assist with special projects
9. Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge of:
1. Vivian Adams and East St. Louis School District 189 Policies and Procedures
2. Caring for children ages three to four years old
Skills:
1. Excellent communication skills
2. Attentive to detail
Ability to:
1. Supervise and monitor three and four year olds
2. Work well with students, staff, and parents
3. Monitor and support student safety
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
School environment; walking, standing, squatting, hearing and speaking to exchange information and make presentations, seeing to monitor various activities; read documents, view computer monitor, kneeling, bending at the waist, sitting for extended periods of time; reaching overhead, above shoulders, and horizontally, or bending at the waist to retrieve and store files; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard; lifting semi heavy objects, use of personal protective equipment when required.
