    Qualifications: *Current Kansas Teaching License
    *Masters Degree from an accredited college or university
    *Modules 1, 2, and 3 LETRS training preferred
    *Reading Specialist or equivalent preferred
    *Health certificate on file in Devin Center

    Experience: Leadership in English Language Arts and Social Studies curriculum development, reading and reading Interventions, program implementation and professional development

    Reports to: Executive Director of Teaching and Learning

    BASIC FUNCTION/PURPOSE:
    Under the direction of the Executive Director of Teaching and Learning, provide support, consultation and coaching in Reading and Reading Interventions, English Language Arts and Social Studies; support and establish programs and provide professional learning opportunities at PreK-12 level.

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Personnel in this job classification will perform a combination of the essential duties shown below:
    • Support the mission of the Teaching and Learning Division to move our district and schools to achieve at the highest levels
    • Stay abreast of the newest research and best practices for Reading, ELA and SS and MTSS PreK-12
    • Support PreK-12 ELA alignment in Tiers 1, 2, and 3
    • Coach district teachers in English Language Arts, Reading and Social Studies
    • Create and facilitate district Reading, ELA and SS professional development
    • Lead district committees for elementary/secondary Reading, ELA, Social Studies and MTSS, Focus meetings and Learning Labs
    • Lead curriculum meetings on a District level
    • Compile and analyze data from national, state and local assessments and support school sites in their data analysis, goal setting and next steps for increasing student achievement
    • Support teachers with projects, pacing, planning and assessment
    • Work with principals to coordinate summer English Language Arts/Reading instruction
    • Collaborate with other staff members regarding progress of initiatives, programs and projects
    • Prepare and submit all required reports and information as required, in a timely manner
    • Serve as a member of the Teaching and Learning Division and attend respective meetings

    KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
    Knowledge of
    • Teacher support, coaching and consulting techniques
    • Instructional shifts involved with Kansas College and Career Ready Standards for ELA/SS, MTSS Framework, Reading and Reading Intervention
    • Programs, professional development and implementation
    • Principles, theories, method techniques, and strategies pertaining to research-based instruction in Reading, English Language Arts, Social Studies and MTSS
    • Educational curriculum and instructional goals and objectives
    • Educational trends and research findings pertaining to Reading, English Language Arts and Social Studies programs
    • Socio-economic and cultural differences in the school community
    Ability to:
    • Understand and carry out verbal and written directions
    • Support and aid in the implementation of T&L Goals
    • Plan, organize, develop, and conduct comprehensive professional development programs
    • Effectively assess the educational needs of students at the classroom, building, grade level, or district and design, develop, and implement sound educational plans/initiatives
    • Perform research and development activities pertaining to current initiatives and design programs to enhance student performance
    • Establish and maintain collaborative and cooperative working relationships with others

    Term of Employment: Teacher Contract (with additional days through mid-June)

    Salary Range: Determined by placement on teacher salary schedule.

    Evaluation Frequency: Job performance will be evaluated a minimum of 1 time per year.
