Be part of an exciting educational project in Kyrgyzstan, fondly referred to as the 'Switzerland of Central Asia'. This not-for-profit European School in Central Asia opened in September 2011 with just 20 pupils aged between 2 and 10 years of age, and now there are about 180 pupils aged between 2 and 19 years old. The school offers a European-style education and they are an IB World School approved to offer the IB Diploma and are currently in the process of gaining authorization for the PYP and MYP. They also have Cambridge accreditation for the IGCSE program.

A Graduate Degree in the relevant field and other European and Central Asian language skills an advantage. You will need to be mindful of cultural differences, be able to differentiate delivery to children whose first language may not be English, and be ready to contribute to the development of the educational program.

The position is available starting late August 2019 (19th). This is a full time long-term position with an initial contract of three years (subject to 3 months’ probation), which will be renewable by mutual consent.

This opportunity offers a good saving potential and the chance to explore the mountainous regions of Central Asia that boasts a wide variety of outdoor activities, a great location for hikers and skiers alike.

Regional Info:

Bishkek is the capital and the largest city in the country of Kyrgyzstan which borders Kazakhstan. It is also the country's financial centre. The city has quite a spectacular backdrop from the Tian Shan mountain range. Kyrgyzstan achieved independence from the Soviet Union in 1991 and before independence, the majority of the city's population was ethnic Russians. By 2011 Russians made up only about 7–8% of the population. Today, Bishkek is a modern city, with many restaurants, cafes whilst still preserving much of its former Soviet feel in its buildings and gardens, museums, bazaars and churches. Weather-wise Bishkek enjoys warm - hot summers with temperatures averaging about 30 degrees in mid-summer (June/July) and cold winters with temperatures dropping below zero in the coldest months. https://www.expatistan.com/cost-of-living/comparison/london/bishkek More about Kyrgyzstan: https://www.lonelyplanet.com/kyrgyzstan https://www.lonelyplanet.com/kyrgyzstan/bishkek
