Master’s Degree from an accredited educational institution; Iowa evaluator license; minimum of eight (8) years of effective teaching and administrative experience; experience with developing and implementing budgets required; maintain a current knowledge base in several areas: curriculum and instruction, best practices in education, special education, effective management and communication strategies, and all local Board policies and procedures.Effective oral and written communication skills; strong analytical skills; professional associations and agencies; advisory and district committee members; Area Education Agency personnel; State and national education agencies

Job Duties:

1.      Assumes responsibility, in conjunction with the administrative staff, for the quality of the educational program of the district.

2.      Schedules and conducts meetings with principals and personnel in Educational Services necessary for educational planning and operation.

3.      Administers the Teacher Leadership and Compensation Grant at elementary schools given the standards set by the Waterloo Community School District, the Iowa Department of Education, and state statutes.

4.      Provides leadership and coordination of the mentoring of elementary principals in accordance with state statutes.

5.      Communicates with parents and the community on matters relating to educational programs.

6.      Coordinates the evaluation of needs, arrangements and provision of professional development in the area of student and support services for building administrators.

7.      Evaluates designated personnel.

8.      Assists with hiring and other personnel decisions as appropriate.

9.      Develops and monitors budgets for areas of responsibility.

10.  Serves on district incident command team.

11.  Recommends Board policies related to areas of responsibility and develops administrative guidelines as needed.

12.  Serves as a contributing member on the District Leadership Team.

13.  Attends Board meetings as needed, serves as a resource person and assists with presentations of information and/or recommendations and prepares Board exhibits as appropriate.

14.  Adheres to high ethical standards and demonstrate professionalism when acting as an agent of the district.

15.  Keeps the Superintendent and Associate Superintendents advised on all relevant matters.

16.  Performs duties in accordance with Iowa Standards for School Leaders.

Directs the district’s instructional programs at the elementary level and facilitates the ongoing development and alignment of the district’s elementary programs; coordinates TLC at elementary schools; guide the mentoring of new building principals at the elementary level; and facilitates the content of K-5 professional development for building leaders. Provide supervision and support for elementary school principals.
