The Special School District (SSD) of St. Louis County is seeking an exemplary superintendent to lead this nationally recognized special district providing all of the St. Louis County school districts with Special Education services levels 1-4 and Career and Tech programs. Special education services are provided to 97% percent of the students with IEPs in their home school within their resident district. About 750 students with more significant disabilities are educated in one of the SSD District’s five special education schools. The District offers a full range of related services, such as speech therapy, social work, occupational therapy and assistive technology, based on IEP requirements. The Career and Tech education for the SSD’s partner district students (about 1,800) are provided in North Technical and the South Technical High Schools. They provide more than 30 programs, including EMT Training, Health Sciences, Cisco Networking Academy, Auto Body and Automotive Technology, Culinary Arts, and Design & Entrepreneurship. This is an exciting forward thinking district that values students’ unique skills, and holds students and themselves to high standards of performance. They are a recipient of the Missouri Quality Award for Excellence, and multiple National Schools of Character. Annual budget is $427 million with a strong fund balance and the authority to levy operational dollars. A multiyear contract with competitive compensation package will be offered.
