Whole School IB Principal - Guangzhou, China - Before June 2019

The original campus of this school opened in January 2015 and is located in Guangzhou, in southern China, two hours by train to Hong Kong. They opened initially with just an Early Years and Primary section but due to rapid expansion are now moving up into the middle years and will soon expand to include upper secondary as well. The school uses a UK curriculum and IB PYP/MYP/IB framework. The school is looking for a strong Principal to start no later than June 2019 for either the existing, established campus, or for a brand new K-12 campus opening in August 2019. They will be a three-programme IB school, delivering a bilingual Chinese-English programme. Their PYP verification visit is next May and MYP and DP will follow within 12 months.

They are looking for candidates ideally with appropriate certification in Educational Administration and at least 10 years of Principal experience in a British or American Top 50 School and a minimum 5 years experience as Head of a K-12 International School. They should also have teaching experience, eperience with strategic planning, a proven track record of problem solving and team management and well-developed skills in budgeting and finance. Experience in human resource management and recruitment, familiarity with bilingual, second language learning and mother tongue programmes and the ability to recruit and retain highly qualified teachers is also sought. Preferred personal attributes incluld strong leadership skills and an ability to inspire others, a strong personal philosophy on education and excellent interpersonal skills.

The school is located in Southern China in Guangzhou, the largest city in the Guangdong province. In recent years, the city has developed a more cosmopolitan appearance with new shopping plazas, high rise buildings, a modern metro system and landscaped parks and road sides. It's a busy, lively city but parts of the cities have charm with restored churches, buildings and private residences. Having a major airport and being so close to Hong Kong opens up a world of travel opportunities from short weekend trips to longer treks around Asia in the holidays.
