Position Summary:

The Operations Manager is an exciting new position that combines several skill sets and will help support and manage the work of the Organizing and Advocacy Team within Mastery. This team's central purpose is to organize parents to take action on issues that impact Mastery's ability to provide high-quality schools of choice in neighborhoods in Philadelphia and Camden. The primary responsibilities of the Operations Manager will be research and analysis, communications development and design, project management, data management, administrative and logistical operations, and providing direct support to the Senior Director of Organizing and Advocacy and the team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Research and Analysis: Conceptualize and implement research on policies, politics and legislation in focused areas, such as charters, special education funding, gun violence, voter turnout, etc., that will inform strategy, policy and action

Analyze, present and make recommendations - verbally and in writing - from research, data and discussion

Identify opportunities and keep up to date on the development and politics of various issues

Communications:Develop clear and persuasive, print and digital communications, including briefing papers, photos, video, posts, newsletters, flyers, testimony, power point presentations, etc.

Create charts, maps, and graphs to present research and illustrate data and analysis

Consistently deliver a professionally finished product

Data Systems:Collect and manage data to track engagement with parents, voters, and officials and work flows

Create data systems, action plans, calendars and other systems that support team goals

Data entry and creation of outreach lists

Supervision:Manage part-time outreach staff in support of parent organizing and campaigns

Manage Admin and Logistics:Organize and coordinate logistics for events and meetings

Support administrative needs of team

Special projects as assigned

Qualifications:

Advanced level knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel

Proficiency with other software, including Google Earth and Razor's Edge a plus

Excellent writer and editor

Experience in multi-media, digital and print, including video and photos

Practical and creative problem-solver able to think strategically

Operates effectively with fast-paced team in high-impact organization

Highly organized and detail oriented with ability to manage multiple tasks and projects

Quick learner and self-starter

Works collaboratively

Desire to learn and improve - reflects on lessons learned and open to constructive feedback

Flexible

Hardworking

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's Degree required, Masters preferred

Minimum 3 years of experience managing or directing projects

Communications and writing experience, including social media platforms

Experience working on political, advocacy or social justice issues or campaigns desired

Spanish fluency a plus

Physical Requirements:

Ability to physically perform the duties and to work in the environmental conditions required such as traveling to network campuses and maneuvering in office space-reaching file cabinets, filing, faxing, coping, typing, mailing, and making phone calls; Must be able to sit for up to four (4) hours looking at a computer monitor, using a keyboard and mouse and typing.
