    Assistant Superintendent for Secondary Education
    This visionary leader is strategic while demonstrating a results orientation. The person in this key role will be responsible for the academic and cultural advancement of CPS high schools.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Certification: Valid Ohio Superintendent License; High School Principal License (preferred)
    Experience: Minimum of three (3) years experience as a principal and three (3) years experience as a teacher or a counselor in K-12 education.
    Training: Master's degree from an accredited university in the field of education (preferred)

    SCHOOL LEADERSHIP
  • Promotes the professional growth of Secondary Principals.
  • Improves the academic achievement and extra-curricular performance of high schools.
  • Ensures all students are accepted into post-secondary education, the military, or employment.
  • Expands educational opportunities and access for students.
  • Ensures equitable practices for secondary students.
  • Leads continuous improvement through a Quality Improvement methodology.
  • Establishes operational efficiencies across high schools.
  • Drives innovation for secondary students.

    CENTRAL OFFICE LEADERSHIP
  • Executes multi-year strategies aligned to Superintendent Goals and priorities.
  • Initiates cross-departmental collaboration to improve service effectiveness for schools.
  • Serves as a contributing member of the Performance Leadership Team.
  • Develops processes and procedures aligned to Board policies.
  • Provides financial management and budgeting for school and central office budgets.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.

    CONTRACT PROVISIONS

    Type Contract: Limited 261 days

    Salary Grade: Commensurate with experience

    • A lead teacher in a position may not be appointed to an administrative position while serving as a lead teacher. A lead teacher may apply for an administrative position if the lead teacher resigns the lead teacher position prior to submitting an application, however, selection is not guaranteed. A consulting teacher may not be appointed to an administrative position while serving as a consulting teacher and for one full school year after serving as a consulting teacher.
