The Park City School District, Park City Utah, is seeking a highly qualified Chief Operations Officer.  The district wishes to have the successful candidate assume the responsibilities of the position at a date mutually agreed upon between the successful candidate and the Park City School District.

McPherson & Jacobson, L.L.C., Executive Recruitment and Development has been engaged as the consultant in a search for outstanding candidates. They will assist the district in identifying and screening the candidates.

Purpose Statement for the Chief Operations Officer Position

 

 

  • The Chief Operations Officer’s role directs leadership, administration, and supervision of Park City School District with a focus on operational services and daily operational functions including but not limited to master facility planning, safety/security coordination, transportation systems, food services, human resources and school operations.

 

 

  • Under the direction of the Superintendent, the Chief Operations Officer acts for, represents, and exercises the authority of the District Superintendent in directing the implementation of the Board of Education’s strategic plan, policies, instructional programs, services, and general operation.

 

 

  • On a day-to-day basis, the Chief Operations Officer shall oversee and coordinate the activities of District Administration and senior management for the effective and efficient operation of all school campuses and offices, as well as the daily operations of security/safety coordination.

 

 

  • The Chief Operations Officer is the second-in-command of all District functions after the Superintendent.

 

 

  • This job reports to the District Superintendent.

The Qualifications
 

The candidate must have the background, skills and abilities essential for excellence. The district has developed the following responsibilities for the position:

  • Bring a spirit of professionalism, persistence, enthusiasm, and cultural competency.
  • Carries out duties and responsibilities with honesty, credibility, and integrity with little direction.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and good judgment in matters of agency policy and procedures. Thorough knowledge and understanding of scope of authority and acting within said scope of authority. Utilize proper discretion in dealing with confidential matters.
  • Excellent organizational, prioritization, timeliness and adaptation skills, verbal and written communication skills, and human relations skills. Follow through to timely completion of assigned tasks. Demonstrated ability in making oral and written presentations before large groups of people.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in the areas of collaboration, team participation, creative problem-solving, conflict resolution, group planning, and decision-making processes. Demonstrate the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions.
  • Familiarity and knowledge of technology as it applies in an educational and business setting.
  • Demonstrate ability to apply data analysis, new strategies, and evaluation techniques.
  • Be adaptable to performing under stress and when confronted with emergency situations.
  • Be able to work a flexible, extended schedule with a mind to get the job done. Capacity and ability to adapt to changing priorities, unexpected circumstances, and sudden changes in work assignments.
  • Knowledge of laws, regulations, and policies governing the use of and accountability of public funds.

Experience Preference

Ten years Cabinet level administrative or management experience preferred. Demonstrated

 

experience that includes oversight of both operations and safety as well as evidence-based

 

decision-making. Experience with building successful partnerships with businesses,

 

community agencies, K12 schools, and higher education.

 

Education Requirement

Master’s Degree in a field related to the position.

Salary

Competitive, dependent upon experience.
