Teacher, District Program Facilitator - Indian Education

Key Responsibilities of the Position
Consult with school staff concerning the development implementation and evaluation of best practices and instructional strategies of American Indian students in quality programs.
Provide leadership and support to the Indian Education programs in the Minneapolis Public Schools.
Plan and implement professional development opportunities for MPS teachers in the area of Indian Education.
Increase parent and community awareness of curriculum initiatives for Indian Education.
Disseminate current research and best practice in all areas for learners in Indian Education.
Identify exemplary programs, supplemental components, learning materials and assessment methods for Indian Education.
Assist the Director in conducting staff, student and parent information meetings regarding Indian Education initiatives and conducting needs assessments.
Work with Indian Education staff to coordinate staff development opportunities for all instructional staff (teachers, educational assistants, etc.) in the integration of American Indian curriculum materials.
Synthesize all previous MPS curriculum efforts and work with MPS Teaching and Learning staff in content areas to link specific materials and district standards.
Attend events and act on behalf of the Director as needed.
Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualification:
• Valid MN teaching license

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in American Indian Community
Experience in Indian Education or American Indian Studies
