THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking an individual to increase ANet's impact with schools by building the capacity of school system leaders across the country. This individual will join ANet's small, but growing System Advising team to support engagements with system leaders of school districts, state departments of education, and CMOs in order to influence their ability to make decisions about their assessment and instructional strategy. In doing so, they will create lasting, positive change with schools, such as improving the quality and purpose of their assessments. The Director will report to the Executive Director, System Advising.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Execute on short- and long-term engagements with system leaders in the areas of assessment, materials and professional development

Support System Advising Team members and school system leadership teams in developing an assessment strategy by managing assessment audits, reviewing curriculum materials, etc.

Draw upon key System Advising tools, resources and recommended engagement timelines to meet our system partners' needs

In collaboration with other System Advising Team members, design and deliver professional development on-site or virtually to senior system leaders and interdepartmental system teams that build capacity and drive towards targeted goals

Create and aggregate all the deliverables and synthesize the results of system engagements in order to codify findings and best practices for system leaders

 

Act as a project manager on up to 10 large system partnerships

Work closely with other System Advising Team members and system CEOs, CAOs, or other senior leaders to align project scope and plans with system needs

Support the logistics of engagements, managing timelines, the execution of deliverables, and making sure the right people are engaged, supported, and communicated with

Support the overall success of system engagements as seen by client satisfaction and system level change outcomes, including improved system coherence from aligning quality materials and assessments

 

Collaborate with System Advising team

Leverage other System Advising team members for thought partnership as roadblocks arise in engagements

Participate in weekly System Advising meetings and facilitate content as needed

Proactively identify ways to build the team's capacity for impact through individual contributions, innovating, and problem-solving

WHO YOU ARE AND WHAT YOU BRING

In order to be successful in this role, candidates must demonstrate the following:

You bring prior experience as an instructional coach (with teachers, school leaders, and/or systems leaders) and know what excellent instructional practices look like

You have a proven track record as a project manager, adept at managing multiple moving pieces and engaging a diverse range of stakeholders simultaneously in order to move work forward

You are knowledgeable about standards- and data-driven instruction

You have led or participated in projects related to curriculum, assessment, or professional development at a systems level

You are a strong strategic thinking and analytical skills allow you to assess multiple data points, quickly diagnose needs, and determine solutions

You are a compelling presenter and facilitator who can explain complex problems and solutions in clear, concise and engaging ways to adult learners

You bring a record of success as a team member working in close partnership with others; you are supportive, responsive, and flexible and thrive working interdependently in an entrepreneurial environment

You have a passionate commitment to and a sense of urgency for the support of schools, along with a belief that all students can achieve at high levels

You are motivated by working in an environment where we live out our core values daily and are eager to examine personal archetypes and biases while discussing topics related to race, class, and privilege which relate to ANet's Advance Equity and People Matter values

 

Ideal candidates may also demonstrate the following preferred qualifications:

Familiarity implementing the Common Core instructional shifts as a teacher and/or instructional leader
