POSITION TITLE: Head Boys' Football Coach
REPORTS TO: Athletic Director
NATURE OF THE POSITION:
This is a responsible position that requires working with students, faculty, administrators and parents in the implementation of the boys' football program. The work is under the direction of the Athletic Director and involves general overall responsibility for the total football program. The Head Coach must demonstrate an ability to work cooperatively and enthusiastically with the entire school community and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills. The Head Coach will have a record of proven success as teacher and coach of the sport.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Experience or Training
Valid Type 03, 09 or 10 Illinois State Teaching, and/or ASEP Certification
Knowledge of the sport
Successful demonstration of quality football coaching at the secondary level
Must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport
To instruct athletes in individual and team fundamental, strategy and physical training necessary to realize a degree of individual and team success
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Directs and assumes general responsibility for the total football program
2. Demonstrates supervisory and organizational skills associated with the implementation of a quality program
3. Demonstrates cooperation, friendliness and enthusiasm toward students, faculty, fellow coaches, and the public sector
4. Demonstrates strong public relations skills
5. Motivates fellow coaches and student athletes by example
6. Plans, coordinates, supervises, and conducts a football program based on the latest evidence of knowledge and skill about the game. Disseminates information to and instructs student athletes and fellow coaches in the above
7. Develops standards of conduct and safety for all student athletes
8. Adheres to these standards, instructs and supervises fellow coaches in the practice of standards
9. Promotes and adheres to school and district policies and procedures
10.Strict compliance with all IHSA rules and regulations
11.Works with the Athletic Director in developing a competitive yearly game schedule
12.Exercises and teaches control and care of school-owned equipment
13.Other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned and/or administratively directed
