The Office of Gifted and Talented Education is looking for AP teachers to join us in improving AP exam participation and scores through AP Check Points.

The purpose of these AP Check Points is to:
  • prepare students for AP exams;
  • help students to develop skills needed for success on AP exams;
  • help students understand the format of the test;
  • increase test-taking stamina;
  • build academic confidence.

The ultimate goal of the AP Check Point is to prepare students to score a 3, 4, or 5 on the AP Exams they will take in May. Nine (9) AP content areas will be offered and will run during Saturdays in January, February, and March. The location of the AP Check Points is still TBD and the sessions will occur from 8:30am-1:30pm.

  • AP World History
  • AP Calculus AB
  • AP Computer Science Principles
  • AP Statistics
  • AP Physics

Grade Levels: Current students enrolled in the above AP courses planning to take the May 2019 exam.

Reports To: K-12, Gifted and Talented Project Specialist

Salary:
42 hours at $23.32 per hour to plan and facilitate AP Check Point Sessions (1/12/19, 2/09/19, 3/16/19)

Start Date: January 1, 2019
End Date: March 16, 2019

Qualifications:
Teaching Certificate Required:
- Secondary PA Certification in content area.

Other Requirements:
- Advanced Placement teaching experience in specific AP subject preferred.

Residency Requirements: No Residency Requirement

Essential Job Functions:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

1. Develop and deliver content for seminar style AP study sessions.
2. Continuously address student needs through differentiation, classroom management, and student investment.
3. Lead whole and small group instruction for up to 20-25 students.
4. Report to K-12, Gifted and Talented Project Specialist.
5. Keep records of student attendance.
6. Assess student work and provide feedback.

Scope of Work:
- Create course curriculum, prepare for the sessions.
- Deliver Review Session seminar materials to up to 20-25 students during Saturday AP Check Point sessions.
- Review Session Hours: Three Saturdays, two 2-hour sessions from 8:30am-1:30 pm (held on 01/12/19, 2/09/19, 3/16/19).
