Mathematics Specialist Position
The Cincinnati Public Schools is excited to announce the creation of a Mathematics Specialist teaching position.
Primary Mathematics Specialists (K-3 Caseloads)
Intermediate Mathematics Specialists (4-6 or 8 Caseloads)
High School Mathematics Specialists (7-12 Caseloads)
Educational Requirements: Bachelor's degree in secondary or elementary education, or higher from an accredited college or university
Reports to: The Department of Curriculum and Instruction and the Building Principal
Contract Provisions: 191 days CFT Contract
Training & Experience: Training in Early Numeracy, Multiplicative and Fractional Reasoning, and Proportional Reasoning where applicable are required (CVMI and Reasoning Courses apply); Applicable Teaching Licensure
Interview Selection Process
Essential Functions / Skills:
Creating Mathematics Improvement and Monitoring Plans for students below grade level in mathematics for applicable grade bands
Assist teachers with RTI for students who are struggling to master mathematics at applicable grade level
Present to teachers in the building PD on interventions to ensure all students are performing at applicable grade level in mathematics
Work with students who are below grade level in mathematics either one-on-one or in groups to bring students up to grade applicable grade level
Attend recurring meetings for professional development and information gathering on teaching and learning in mathematics
Work on improving services and reporting data
Share with other Mathematics Specialists strategies, data and resources to assist others with improving mathematics readiness
Manage the process progress monitoring and celebrating growth
Work with teachers & students to raise student achievement scores
Perform other duties as assigned
