Data Strategy Associate, Evaluation

The Evaluation Department is responsible for collecting, cleaning, maintaining, and analyzing all participation data for HCZ. We are seeking two new Data Strategy Associates to work as a part of the Evaluation team. The Data Strategy Associates will work closely with the Evaluation team, Salesforce Manager, and data and management staff at program sites, to ensure that the Evaluation Department and program staff at all levels have access to high-quality, actionable data that meet their needs on an ongoing basis. This will facilitate a continuous learning process to improve outcomes for the youth and families that we serve. Each Data Strategy Associates will report to one of the Assistant Directors of Evaluation, who work with Early Childhood, Elementary, Community, and Wellness Programs and Youth and Post-Secondary and Career Programming.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with staff at program sites to develop, refine, and support the implementation of systems and routines for data collection, high quality data entry, validation, and reporting, including sharing/adapting best practices across sites
  • Partner with program staff to surface and explore gaps in data-related capacity; frame, contextualize, and communicate gaps to Evaluation team and Salesforce Manager as appropriate
  • Support the development of program staff's capacity to understand and utilize their programs' data, through facilitating the creation of technical customizations and providing training on simple data manipulation and interpretation, as necessary
  • Coordinate and communicate requests for modifications to the organization-wide data system and new reports, dashboards, or other ways of representing data reflecting program participation and outcomes
  • Apply a business analyst's eye and an understanding of HCZ's data ecosystem to identify and align critical data points for program management and program evaluation, and ensure the utility, efficiency, and feasibility of possible systems and processes for data tracking and reporting
  • Act as a resource to program sites to support with on-the-ground data-related practices as necessary
  • Assist and/or lead other projects within the Evaluation department as assigned

Qualification, Skills and Knowledge Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in education research, evaluation, psychology, social policy, sociology, psychometrics, or other related disciplines
  • Advanced degree in the social sciences or 3+ years' experience in research, evaluation, data analysis, data visualization, program management or operations, and/or related field
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Must possess excellent judgment and pay high level attention to details
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Willingness to respect and learn from colleagues with varying backgrounds and skill-sets; ability to work effectively with colleagues across the organization with varying degrees of experience
  • Prior experience with youth and adults of diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Experience with community building, youth development, or related work preferred
  • Familiarity with Salesforce software is strongly preferred
