Program Aide, Promise Academy I After-School (Grades K- 5)

HCZ Promise Academy I After-School is seeking a Program Aide. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for the mission of Promise Academy and HCZ, an understanding and respect for the culture of all residents of Harlem, and experience working in a school setting with a love for children.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Work directly with students in all of their activities (i.e. arts, dance, sports, etc)
• Assist teachers with participants physical, emotional, social, moral and intellectual development
• Create and implement activities, workshops and events for students based on their interests and with their involvement
• Model positive behavior for the youth
• Engage the youth in dialogue (one-to-one and group discussions) around topics of concern for their age group and developmental stage
• Assist in the completion of homework and test prep
• Maintain the up keep of supplies
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualification, Skills and Knowledge Requirements

• A commitment to the mission and programs of HCZ
• High School diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's Degree preferred
• Some experience working with students and/or at-risk youth
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
• Familiar with issues prevalent in underserved communities
• Must be able to engage and motivate students
