The Special Programs Auditor provides across the board auditing support to managed schools responsible for special education and/or special programs such as English Learners and Section 504. The Special Programs Auditor is responsible for leading successful audits from conception to finality with the inclusion of all applicable parties in planning, implemented, reviewing and evaluating all aspects of the individual audits AS A SPECIAL PROGRAMS AUDITOR 3, YOU WILL..
  • Schedules and conducts special education/special programs audits with all applicable schools on an annual basis or more frequently if needed.
    • Schedules a minimum of one pre-site visit call with the school:
    • Establishes special programs regulatory differences for each State , ensure access to applicable school specific data repositories such as the IEP system, reviews audit process with all applicable parties at each school, establishes time frames and travel details (if applicable)
  • Serves as the K12 resident expert in all K12 created audit tools including the K12 full audit tool (aligned to IDEA), the abbreviated audit tool (aligned to IDEA and used with new schools), focused audits that dive deeper into specific areas such as transition or related services as well as any audit tools used by the various State agencies
  • Writes comprehensive summary reports using provided report template to completely inform and document the special education/special programs audit process as well as identified areas of improvement for the school to remediate with the assistance of the Regional Special Programs Manager.
  • Ensures remediation plans are distributed to schools and submitted back to the Regional Special Programs manager with school response to items identified as in need of remediation with assigned due dates.
  • Updates K12 internal audit tools regularly.
  • Works collaboratively with all applicable school parties, Regional Compliance Directors and Regional Special Programs managers to ensure school action items are appropriate and suggestions provided are doable, efficient, and compliant.
  • Ensures process and program efficiencies - continually looks for ways to make audits more streamlined and accurate.
  • Provides a minimum of annual training for all special program's parities on all aspects of the various audit tools

Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIRED Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Education AND
  • Minimum of five years' experience serving as a special education teacher OR
  • Five years of in a leadership role of special programs in some capa
    city (special education manager, etc.)
  • Involvement in the auditing process at a school level (whether that be as a teacher or special programs leader)
  • Experience leading a special education audit (State or local level)
  • Preferred special education/programs leader experience
  • Familiarity of special education laws such as IDEA with required evidence of this experience such as professional development/coursework/personal presentations, etc.
  • Exceptional Excel/technology skills including but not limited to V-LookUp, pivot tables, formulas and Access data bases

Certificates and Licenses: Special education licensure in a minimum of one State
OTHER REQUIRED Qualifications
  • Up to 40% travel within the continental United State s
  • Ability to pass required background check
