V irginia Beach City Public Schools Department of Teaching & Learning is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Coordinator, Governor's STEM and Technology Academy.

Responsibilities :

The candidate must work collaboratively with the Academy staff, the Landstown High School staff, and the central office staff to communicate and carry out the division's vision for and philosophy of the Academy Programs. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following services: supervises and manages the implementation of the Academy program; supervises and evaluates all Landstown High School Academy teachers; markets the Academy program to prospective students and families, as well as colleges, universities, conservatories, and potential employers by articulating the Academy purpose and intent; develops and conducts staff development programs for the Academy teachers; oversees the application process; maintains the day-to-day operations of the Academy including but not limited to preparing and managing the budget, conferencing and meeting with parents, students, and teachers; maintains a variety of social media sites; facilitates an academy Planning and Advisory Committee; oversees the development and implementation of a continuous improvement plan in alignment with the Academy's mission and vision; creates and maintains cooperative relationship with an Academy Parent Boosters Club; develops a variety of informational program literature; oversees the supervision of senior internships; maintains a student intervention/probation process as well as a new student transition process; arranges for appropriate recognition events; stays current with regard to developing trends in technical and career education and related fields; researches and writes grants; coordinates the development of the Academy curricula and oversees its implementation; coordinates the gathering, selecting, and analysis of data with respect to the Academy; and performs duties as assigned by the Executive Director, Secondary Teaching and Learning, in the Department of Teaching and Learning and the building principal. This position reports to the Principal of Landstown High School.

Education/Experience :

The candidate must have a minimum of five years successful teaching experience with high school experience preferred, knowledge in the field of Technical and Career Educatoin, and must hold a postgraduate professional license with an endorsement in instructional supervision and administration. The successful candidate must possess strong organizational and communications skills; knowledge of current research and trends in education with an emphasis on STEM and Technical and Career education; commitment to differentiated learning opportunities for students; and, strong leadership qualities and characteristics necessary for establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with colleagues, school personnel, and the general public.

2018-2019 Unified Pay Scale Grade 22. The selected candidate's salary will be based on the individual's verified years of creditable experience.
