Instructional Innovations Specialists (formerly named Technology Faciliators) needed for the 2019-20 school year.

Job Summary:
The Instructional Innovation Specialists work with teachers and students to facilitate access to information in a wide variety of formats. They consult, collaborate and co-teach to increase teacher knowledge and capacity in acquiring, evaluating, and using information and instructional resources...how to acquire, evaluate and use information and instructional resources needed to implement the District 34 Learning Process and curriculum. The Instructional Innovation Specialists differentiate their support to educators and students in the areas of inquiry and design thinking while focusing on creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, digital literature, and other resources to support/enhance the curriculum and instructional process. The ultimate goal is to prepare students to be effective users/synthesizers of ideas an dinfromation. At a district level, Instructional Innovation Specialists collaborate in an ongoing manner with Library Resource Center Directors and Instructional Coaches to provide district-wide and building level professional development.

Qualifications:
  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL)At least four (4) years effective teaching experience preferredKnowledge of, and experience with, a broad range of information literacy materials, resources, and practices in K-8 curriculum areasKnowledge of and experience implementing best practice in informational literacy and professional developmentStrong organizational and problem solving skillsAbility to establish and maintain effective organizational relationships and work collaboratively with school and district personnelKnowledge of adult learning characteristics and effecitve professional development desingAbiility to coordinate and facilitate professional development experiences for staff at the building and district levelsEffective verbal and written communication skills

  • Ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and informationCollaborate with each other, LRC Directors and Instructional Coaches, to support teachers to realize the District's Strategic PlanEmpower learners to be curious resilient, problem-solvers, critical thinkers, collaborators, empathetic, enthusiastic learners, skillful researchers, and ethical users of informationInstill a love of learning in all students/educators and ensure equitable access to information and instructional effectivenessMeet and communicate with the Executive Director of Educational Technology and Principals on a regular basis to
    • design and monitor instructional support for the building and districtensure the effectiveness of implementation as it relates to the use/integration of inquiry and digital resources
    Monitor the effective use and implementation of technology

Working Conditions:
10 month, full-time (1.0 FTE) position starting mid-August 2019 through early June 2020.
