    Upward Bound Teachers/Instructors
    General Statement

    The Upward Bound Program serves 65 ninth through twelfth grade students who are low-income and/or potential first generation college students. The program seeks to promote collegiate preparedness by strengthening students' academic and social-emotional skills necessary for success in high school and beyond. The Upward Bound Teacher will work with the Upward Bound Project Director and Advisor to support these goals, by providing instruction and enrichment for Upward Bound's Saturday Academy.

    Responsibilities
    Teachers instruct four, 50-minute long, small classes, based at UConn-Stamford for our Upward Bound high school students. Classes take place 2 times per month on Saturday mornings (9:00 am – 12:30 pm). Teachers are responsible for tracking and reporting students' progress. Teachers develop their own classroom content/curriculum. We are especially looking for teachers of: Math, Science, Technology, English (Grammar & Composition, etc.), Foreign Language and History.     Qualifications
    · Bachelors' degree
    · Expertise in content area
    · Excellent organizational skills.
    · Professional or personal experience in overcoming barriers similar to those confronting the target
    Population from which project participants will be selected.

    Compensation
    College Graduate: $20/hr
    Graduate with CT teaching certification: $25/hr
