ABOUT YOU
As the Data Analyst,you are directly accountable to the Chief Operating Officer and serve on the network team of Chicago Collegiate (supporting both our elementary school and our high school), working to ensure that all students are demonstrating dramatic student achievement gains and demonstrating the character traits and intellectual habits needed to succeed in the college of their choice, lead in their communities and change the world.

What Your Day-to-Day Might Look Like
You will be the "data guru" of Chicago Collegiate. You will hold overall responsibility for our data strategy and execution for our network and school program teams.  You will also will be responsible for translating data into actionable information for internal and external stakeholders and supporting continuous quality improvement and learning using data
Data Management & Analysis Responsibilities:
  • Systems Management: Lead coordination of data collection and management. Ensure fidelity of usage of our primary data systems used at the school, particularly our Student Information System (SIS) as well as additional systems that produce critical academic and cultural data
  • Data Reporting: Oversee analysis and interpretation of both quantitative and qualitative data using appropriate statistical methods and data manipulation tools. Develop, monitor, and run regular data reports and provide them to individuals who need them to inform their work. Ensure data reports reflect the needs of students and staff and are accurate and comprehensive, innovating as appropriate. 
  • Data Analysis: Foster dynamic data engagement by program staff to support data-driven instruction and decision making. Provide support in data analysis and discussion among staff members, monitor organization-wide data usage, and support building a strong data-driven culture and capacity in all staff members to use data to inform decisions 
Project Management Responsibilities:
The Data Analyst will also have a portion of their role (ranging from 20-40% depending on the time of year) allocated to project management in one or more areas connected to their data work. Those projects may include but are not limited to: 
  • Assessments: Coordinating assessment requirements and logistics to ensure they run smoothly and provide us with the academic data we need for our analysis and instruction. 
  • Technology: Managing our technology strategy, infrastructure, and inventory. Coordinating with our external tech support vendor to ensure the school's technology needs are met. 
  • Compliance: Overseeing collection, preparing, and submission of data as required by Chicago Public Schools and Illinois State Board of Education. 
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • An orientation towards data and strong quantitative skills
  • High proficiency with data and/or analytics; experience analyzing data and creating reports
  • An unwavering belief that all students can achieve at the highest academic levels, regardless of demographics
  • A strong work ethic and a passion for being part of a team-oriented, mission-driven school culture
  • Ability to be solutions oriented and approach each day with a sense of possibility
  • Self-starter with an ability to execute on a vision with little direction; also possess an ability to take initiative in problem-solving 
  • Excellent critical thinking skills
  • Highly organized and attentive to detail
  • Ability to work well with others across a large team including building strong relationships and influencing action
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (and/or Google Suite counterparts), particularly Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets
Nice-To-Haves
  • At least 2 years professional experience highly preferred
  • A master's degree in social sciences, public policy or related field with course work in research methods and statistics and/or equivalent education and experience preferred
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau preferred
  • Experience working in a school in a low-income community (in instruction and/or operations) preferred
  • Project management experience preferred
