   License and Certification Qualifications: None required.

Education Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.

Experience Qualifications: Three years in an office/clerical environment required. Experience in a K-12 setting preferred.

Skills Qualifications: Ability to communicate with a variety of customers in an effective and tactful manner; strong organizational skills; ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and coordinate work from several individuals simultaneously; ability to follow oral and written instructions quickly and accurately; ability to detect and correct errors in standard English language usage; ability to receive, process, and protect the integrity of highly confidential information; ability to work as an effective team member; willingness to learn new software packages and other processes efficiently; ability to represent Gwinnett County Public Schools in a positive and professional manner; strong computer skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office required; and knowledge of Lotus Notes preferred.

Primary Responsibilities: Assist in the organization, support, and coordination of all aspects of the special education program areas for the Special Education and Psychological Services Department.

1. Provide administrative support for all special education program areas for the Special Education and Psychological Services Department.
a. Compose correspondence for the Coordinator of Special Education as requested.
b. Screen all written correspondence and telephone calls and route items to the most appropriate level for a response.
c. Screen all inquiries to the appropriate office to facilitate a timely resolution of any problems and concerns and maintain a contact log.
d. Maintain annual calendar of required events for the Special Education and Psychological Services Department.
e. Audit and monitor conference travel account and registration/tuition accounts.
f. Complete and process overnight travel vouchers and assist in arrangement of travel plans.
g. Type various forms, reports, memos, and letters as assigned.
h. Initiate and maintain ledgers as assigned.
i. Order materials/equipment for program specific areas as requested.

2. Perform general communication duties for the Special Education and Psychological Services Department.
a. Ensure that correspondence and other documentation sent from the Special Education and Psychological Services Department is accurate and that it conforms to the prescribed form and style for the district.
b. Utilize telecommunications equipment courteously in the efficient operation of the office.
c. Route incoming and outgoing correspondence/phone calls accurately and efficiently.
d. Make appointments for leadership and maintain appointment schedules.

3. Process all forms and documents on the administrative level for the Coordinator of Special Education.
a. Process all necessary forms and information to be forwarded to various central level offices and assure accuracy.
b. Process leave and miscellaneous payroll as assigned.

4. Communicate in a businesslike, courteous, and efficient manner.
a. Cooperate with and maintain a positive relationship with other employees in the office to which assigned.
b. Cooperate with and maintain a positive relationship with all other school system employees.

5. Provide world-class customer service for the Special Education and Psychological Services Department.
a. Research, review, and respond to customer inquiries in an accurate and timely manner.

6. Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time. The employee is also required to talk, hear, stand, and walk. The employee may be required to use hands to finger, handle, feel, and/or reach. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
