Delivers prescribed instruction in basic computer applications to students in a computer lab. Incumbents utilize lesson plans provided by the Instructional Technology Department. Work requires the exercise of independent discretionary decision-making in applying prescribed technical knowledge. This position is distinguished from the classroom teacher, as it is not required to evaluate or test students, issue grades or report cards, or conduct parent/teacher conferences.

 

Essential Job Functions:
  • Provides group and individual instruction to students. Utilizes lesson plans provided by Instructional Technology. May modify lesson plans based on instructional and technology pacing guides, student abilities and teacher input.
  • Maintains classroom order in accordance with guidelines regarding student behavior.
  • Provides technical support in troubleshooting and maintaining computer hardware and software in compliance with CCPS guidelines.
  • Performs the clerical and administrative work required to ensure efficient operation of the computer lab, including its daily set up and shut down. Refers unresolved problems to appropriate central office department after performing basic troubleshooting.

Qualifications:
 

Working knowledge of computer hardware and software applications. Some knowledge of instruction using computers. Working skill in analyzing and resolving hardware and software problems related to compatibility and configuration issues. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work positively with students, staff and administration. Demonstrated ability to deliver instruction to students. Demonstrated ability to install hardware and software, conduct upgrades and perform backups. Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate records, develop materials, train others and work independently.

Requirements:

Must meet the qualifications of "highly qualified" under the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001.  These qualifications are:  
  • possession of passing score of 455 on the Paraprofessional Assessment (CCPS does not administer this test), or 
  • possession of a minimum of 48 college credits (listed in semester hours) or
  • possession of an Associate's Degree.

College transcripts or parapro scores must be submitted to be considered for this position.
