Develops, coordinates, and implements programs and supports for at-risk students. Coordinates broad range of academic and social-emotional interventions and supports with the goal of increasing student achievement. Assists staff members in supporting academic and social-emotional skills that will contribute to students' development as mature, able and responsible citizens.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Provides classroom and schoolwide behavior support interventions and monitor effectiveness. 
  • Coach teachers/staff members to implement Tier 1 PBIS strategies including, but not limited to, building relationships with students, setting expectations, and establishing routines and procedures.
  • Serves as integral member of the Student Services Team and School Critical Incident Team.
  • Facilitates and/or coordinates a variety of student supports which may include tutoring, social skills counseling, student and peer mentoring, and school transition programs.
  • Collaborates with administration, teachers, school counseling staff, and school social worker to ensure provision and coordination of student academic/behavioral interventions and supports.
  • Analyzes, disaggregates, and interprets relevant data to support the school's implementation of the PBIS model.
  • Develops, implements, and supports schoolwide supports and intervention programs consistent with PBIS model and facilitate regular check-ins to monitor progress of students receiving interventions.
  • Analyzes academic and behavioral data (including referrals and pre and post intervention data) to facilitate student selection for intervention, to determine impact and effectiveness of program interventions, and to track student progress.
  • Collaborates with parents and teachers to connect interventions in the classroom and in the home.
  • Creates student-specific interventions and behavior plans in collaboration with parents, administration, support team, and other staff members, and provide behavioral support when necessary.
  • Provides Tier 3 Supports consistent with PBIS model.
  • Demonstrates commitment to improving professional competence.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications: Considerable knowledge of the concepts, principles and methodologies of instruction in a public school setting; of current curriculum development, program implementation and planning, learning theory, recent research and available state and local resources; child growth and development, group dynamics and related state and federal regulations. Demonstrated ability to deliver articulate oral presentations and well written communication and to react effectively with parents, students, teachers, administrators and the community. Working skill in the use of technology including word processing, spreadsheet and database software (Word, Power Point, Excel, Access and Outlook preferred).  Demonstrated ability to organize, schedule and monitor work assignments and to train and advise staff. Demonstrated ability in decision-making, problem analysis, conflict resolution, interpersonal relationships, program management, research and planning and to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Requirements:
Must hold a valid, renewable license issued by the Virginia Department of Education. Completion of formal or structured coursework or training in PBIS and experience with application of PBIS within a school setting preferred.
  • Minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Possession of the requirements for the applicable teacher license.
