QUALIFICATIONS:

Associates Degree or High School Diploma/GED and NCLB required. Must be willing to participate in ongoing professional development.

Knowledge of development of young children.

Ability to operate standard office equipment.

Ability to work well with others including children.

Ability to effectively use written and verbal skills to communicate with teachers, students, supervisors and parents.

Demonstrate a high degree of customer service skills and professionalism.

Ability to assist with classroom management.

First Aid/CPR certification preferred.

Basic computer knowledge is required.

Regular attendance is required.

Other qualifications to the above that the Board may find acceptable and appropriate.

*Supervisor may choose to waive some qualifications.

REPORTS TO: Principal/Assistant Principal or designee

SUPERVISES: Not applicable

JOB GOAL: To assist in creating a nurturing early childhood environment favorable to learning and personal growth for children.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Assist with kindergarten screening process.

Assist children individually and in small groups as directed by teacher.

Operate audio-visual equipment, laminate and copy materials as directed by teacher

Keep learning materials organized and readily available.

Maintain a safe and orderly environment for children.

Assist with daily educational work completing activities designed by teacher.

Approximately 90% of time is allocated to assist with instruction.

Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:

Assist in collection of instructional materials.

Assist in maintaining child accounting records as needed.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: School year

EVALUATION: For new employees, evaluations will be performed according to the current collective bargaining agreement. For

transferring employees, evaluations will be done at 30 days. All regular employees will be evaluated at least yearly.

Physical Demands:

100% physically active - bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, squatting, crawling.

Occasionally lifting 20-40 lbs.
