Subjects and Grades:

- Works with our ECE - 12th grade students providing support for students in our Affective Needs, Multi Intensive and/or Autism classrooms.

Essential Functions and Objectives:

The Itinerant Special Education Paraprofessional is a unique role that has an opportunity to work directly with our Central Office Special Education Team. This role has an opportunity to work in different schools and classrooms providing support where the help is needed. This position is eligible for full medical benefits along with sick and personal time. If you are looking for a career in education with opportunites for growth, this is the position for you.

In the various positions you will support students who have various needs with educational support, behavioral, social-emotional, physical and daily living needs of students with disabilities in integrated, resource, self-contained and community settings. Assists in conducting testing and assessment, multi-media activities, record-keeping, computer operation, discipline, and other activities. May assist with lifting and transporting of students, as well as daily living activities such as toileting, diapering, feeding, and personal hygiene as trained and directed. Itinerant Special Education Paraprofessionals support multiple school locations and travel from school to school throughout the school day.

Knowledge, Experience & Other Qualifications:

In this position, travel to multiple school locations throughout the school day may be required. Must be able to travel between school locations. If transporting students, must have current driver's license, auto insurance, and a good driving record. Training in the areas of de-escalation strategies, invasive procedures, universal health precautions, etc. will be provided.

Education Requirements:

Copy of official/unofficial transcript(s) verifying at least 48 semester hours, Associate's, or Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university (All foreign transcripts must be evaluated by a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services. You do not need a course-by-course, just a basic evaluation. Visit www.naces.org for approved service members).

OR

Copy of high school diploma or GED and proof of passing the TABE D Adult Education Test for Reading and Math.

OR

Copy of high school diploma or GED and proof of passing the WorkKeys exam in reading for information and applied mathematics. Score of 4 or higher in both is required.

Testing is available at the Emily Griffith Testing Center for $15.00

Required Scores are:

- Paraprofessionals working in ECE - 5th grade positions: Reading score of 7.3 or higher and Math score of 6.1 or higher.

- Paraprofessionals working 6th-8th grade positions: Reading and Math Score of 9.0 or higher

- Paraprofessionals working in 9th - 12th grade positions: Reading and Math Score of 12.7 or higher
