The Opportunity:

As an Elementary Teacher at Mastery you will work relentlessly to foster a love of learning with your students. Our Kindergarten through 2nd grade classrooms are self-contained and, for most of our campuses, starting in 3rd grade our teachers become subject-specific. All of our elementary teachers at Mastery work to close the literacy gap through incorporating culturally-relevant and rigorous texts and topics into lessons. At Mastery we value Continuous Improvement and want you to learn and grow in your craft. We utilize a team of Assistant Principals, central-office coaches, and school-based content teams to provide every teacher coaching and feedback. We have professional development or peer collaboration time built into our calendar every Wednesday (when students are dismissed early).

In joining our K-2 Program http://www.masterycharter.org/app/uploads/2017/03/K-2-At-A-Glance.pdf , you are signing up to give our students the best start possible on their academic journeys. You leverage 180 minutes of daily literacy instruction (in small groups as well as whole class) to help the Fundations, Guided Reading, IRA, and Readers and Writers Workshop curricular materials you are provided come alive. You'll also use the Eureka Math curriculum during your 90 minutes of daily math instruction. Across the rest of your day you help ensure your students' social emotional and science/social studies skills set them up for long term success.

As a 3-6 English Language Arts http://www.masterycharter.org/app/uploads/2017/04/3-12-ELA-Courses-At-A-Glance.pdf teacher we know you love reading intrinsically and have unwavering belief in holding the bar high for all readers. Ideally, you have familiarity with balanced literacy instruction and you are eager to teach the building blocks of strong reading practices. You and your students engage with Text Study and Reader's Workshop broken into thematic units while learning to comprehend and analyze complex grade-level texts as required by the Common Core State Standards. Like your K-2 peers, you also help your students develop their own voices in daily writing workshop.

Mastery's 3-6 Math Program http://www.masterycharter.org/app/uploads/2017/03/3-12-Math-Courses-At-A-Glance.pdf utilizes the national-recognized and open-sourced Eureka Math's curriculum to help students explore mathematical concepts and develop mathematical fluency. Your students learn grade-level content by engaging with challenging problems and then learn from their peers' thinking through a facilitated discussion. You'll also engage with our Foundations Math program for our mathematicians in need of remediation.

Our 3-6 Science Program http://www.masterycharter.org/app/uploads/2017/04/3-12-Science-Courses-At-A-Glance-Recruitment-Team.pdf uses the Full Option Science System (FOSS) curriculum. That's right - the amazing FOSS! You and your students will use this inquiry-based curriculum to develop student note-booking skills and build a deep passion for understanding the world we live in. Your quarterly pacing guides with standards-aligned resources will supplement the work your content teams and central-office coaches prioritize each reporting period. If you're looking for where you can truly teach science (rather than read a science article for ELA minutes) look no further.
