Responsibilities:
Responsibility for supervising and participating in the repair and maintenance of automotive, construction, and other types of mechanical equipment, diagnoses, assigns, and supervises the repair work performed. Assigns the repair work to the mechanics and mechanic helpers, may perform mechanical work or assists a mechanic in performing repairs that requires a very extensive knowledge of the trade. Direct supervision is exercised over automotive mechanics, automotive mechanic helpers and other employees assigned to the garage area. Does related work as required.
Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or vocational school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and five (5) years of experience as a journeyman automotive mechanic; or nine (9) years of experience as a journeyman automotive mechanic; or an equivalent combination of training and experiences. Special Requirement: Possession of a valid Class B, P & S endorsement, New York State driver's license at the time of appointment.
