Department of Technology: Technology Support Technician Eligibility List Vacancy Posting:

The Technology Support Technician position is a school-based position. Candidates who have been approved by the Department of Technology for the Technology Support Technician (TST) Eligibility List will be eligible to apply for the school-based positions when advertised. The Department of Technology will notifiy candidates who will be scheduled to complete the process for the TST Eligibility List.

This position entails providing basic, ongoing, first-level, school-base technical support to teachers and other staff in the use of technology. These technicians will be responsible for complying with Department of Technology (DOT) standards and directives for the work to be accomplished at their respective buildings. This position reports to and is evaluated by the Principal.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Good knowledge of the troubleshooting and operation of computer hardware and common software applications such as Microsoft Office; thorough knowledge of methods and techniques used to maintain and repair computer equipment; ability to carry-out maintenance plans and repair schedules for technical resources; knowledge of the ticket tracking application; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, understand and execute oral and written instructions; ability to work with minimal supervision and organize workload; must have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, be able to listen, understand and analyze problems.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma, but Associates Degree preferred. Experience providing technical support on a variety of hardware, software and operating systems. Industry relevant certifications preferred (i.e. Network +). A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Some standing, walking, moving, climbing, lifting (up to 40 lbs.), carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, handling, pushing and pulling. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential tasks.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Possession of a valid driver's license is required.

Unified Experienced Base Pay Step Scale (U12)

Entry Level = $36, 362

Entry Level salary will be awarded at the time of hire. Upon the return of the Employment Verification Forms back from the candidate's current and previous employers, the salary will be adjusted if creditable full-time experience is confirmed.

Salary will be based on years of full-time creditable (directly related) verified work experience. Full range of benefits including health insurance, paid life insurance, paid sick/vacation leave and membership in the Virginia Retirement System. At the time of hire, six (6) months (6 Days = 48 Hours) of vacation time will be front loaded to the employee's leave account (1 Day equates to 8 Hours of annual leave) for this 12 Month position. Subsequent annual leave earned will be accrued each pay period; four (4) hours each pay period during the month.
