A passionate part time Guidance Counselor is needed at the K12 partner school, Arkansas Virtual Academy (ARVA). We want you to be a part of our talented team!

The mission of Arkansas Virtual Academy is to provide an exemplary individualized and engaging educational experience for students by incorporating school and community/family partnerships coupled with a rigorous curriculum along with a data-driven and student-centered instructional model. AS A GUIDANCE COUNSELOR YOU WILL...
  • Develop and support school efforts as outlined in the Continuous Improvement Plan including in part, anti-bullying efforts, parent involvement, and student engagement
  • Assist with addressing at-risk indicators, e.g. excessive absences, at-risk behavior, mental/physical health, family/peer relations, etc.
  • Consult with students, parents, teachers, and other school and community personnel to assist in identifying and meeting the needs of students
  • Promote services offered through the counseling department to teachers, staff, students, and families
  • Collaborate with peers in the high school counseling department
  • Consult with elementary and middle school principals and blended learning director as needed to stay informed of student trends, trainings, and special projects
  • Maintain knowledge about the elementary and middle school program structure and requirements
  • Complete compliance documentation in a timely manner

Are you driven by excellence to deliver instruction, support and guidance, manage the learning process, and focus on students' individual needs? If selected, you will participate in a comprehensive new teacher training program for three weeks before the start of school. It is an opportunity to meet colleagues and learn the responsibilities required for delivering curriculum in an online environment. During this training you will also learn how to monitor student progress through K12's learning management system, and to be a partner actively working with students and parents to advance each child's learning.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree AND
  • Three (3) years of experience in counseling and/or advisement OR
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Web-based search engines, and database systems
  • Flexible schedule; Ability to travel as needed, up to 50% of the time , to conduct parent trainings, meet with students, support staff, and attend required training
  • Ability to pass required background check
  • Ability to obtain a valid fingerprint clearance card (where applicable)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with distance learning
  • Advanced coursework in counseling and administration
  • Experience in a customer service environment
  • Experience with Local, State , and Federals laws and mandated reporting
  • Experience in a charter school environment
