Department Description:

Under the direction of the Supervisor, Textbooks and Summer Programs, the Data Entry Technician assumes responsibility for performing difficult technical work necessary to carry-out the data acquisition and management tasks associated with the Prince George?s County Public Schools? course catalog, related documents and reports. The employee inputs data in multiple portals, facilitates working sessions with key staff, maintains records, develops reports, and provides information as needed necessary for the operation of the course catalog. The work involves frequent contact with various other offices within the Division of Academics and within the school system.

Brief Description:

This is a ACE/AFSCME, Local 2250 Position - Pay Table 700 - Grade 16

Hourly Range: $18.85 - $36.37 (external candidates may not be placed above Step 6 $24.88 due to contractual requirements)

Detailed Description:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Receives, examines and processes course requests for completeness and accuracy;
  • Initially sets-up, maintains and updates data records and inputs directly into the computer to effect necessary changes;
  • Provides technical guidance in working sessions, by telephone or in writing to Academics and other departments relative to the course catalog processes;
  • Compiles/prepares information for district and state reports and publications as requested by the supervisor;
  • May work with the supervisor to provide training as required for the course catalog and reporting;
  • Works in collaboration with the supervisor and other staff to review and reconcile course catalog information in various formats;
  • Facilitates processes in order to meet deadline dates;
  • Handles special projects as assigned;
  • Supports and assists other areas with all course catalog needs as necessary;
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Must be able to use Oracle, SchoolMAX and other applications;
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suites, with particular strength in spreadsheets;
  • Must also be proficient in PowerPoint, Word, Excel, etc., and skilled using the internet for work related research; and
  • This is a highly analytical position, which requires demonstrated experience in analyzing and synthesizing information, working quickly and accurately.

  • EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

    High School Diploma required; must have at least three (3) years specializing in high volume data management.

    CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

    None required.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    No direct supervisory responsibilities.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 50 lbs.
