Early Intervention Teacher

Reporting to the EI Program Administrator, the Early Intervention Teacher will provide supports and services to eligible young children in Preschool programs, Early Intervention classrooms and community/home settings throughout the city. Must have a car for travel.

Salary:
Preschool Teacher Salary Schedule, (Starting Salary $42, 382 with Bachelor's Degree or $44, 618 with Master's Degree)

Endorsements: Early Childhood N-3

Qualifications:
Special Education certification preferred; Early Childhood teacher certification with Special Ed/EI experience accepted.

Along with proper certification, the highest priority and preference will be given to candidates who possess experiences with Early Intervention children, especially in inclusive settings.

The applicant will need the following skills:
- Be able to travel throughout the city on a daily basis
- Computer literacy
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills for handling a high volume of job related tasks in a very busy environment
- Excellent written and oral communication
- Understanding of federal and state mandates that govern Early Intervention.

Residency Requirements: No Residency Requirement

Essential Job Functions:
1. Collaborate with Early Childhood partners to maintain consistency of Early Intervention services.

2. Provide Early Intervention services to eligible children per the IEP.

3. Collect, manage, input and report on progress monitoring data for parents and OCDEL audits.

4. Conduct developmental/behavior screens and standardized assessments to determine eligibility.

5. Possess an extensive understanding of state and federal Special Ed/Early Intervention regulations.

6. Utilize necessary technology (ex. PELICAN) to write evaluation reports, IEPs and complete all other required paperwork.

7. Manage and support children with challenging behaviors.

8. Maintain daily Microsoft work calendar related to caseload management.

9. Provide support to community professionals, teachers, families and young children utilizing Early Intervention services.

10. Assist with transition to kindergarten activities.

11. Attend to details with independent follow-through on extensive paperwork demands.

12. Attend staff meeting and in-service trainings.

13. Any other responsibilities as needed or assigned by the Early Intervention Program Administrator.
