    Applications from current JCPS employees already in full-time BAI Instructor positions will not be accepted. These employees will use the transfer process to move to lateral positions for the 2019/2020 School Year which is open annually March-April.

    General information regarding this Job Cateogory: There are currently over eight thousand students in Jefferson County Public Schools who speak English as a second language. They come from dozens of different cultural backgrounds and nearly every continent. Culture and country of origin can profoundly influence a child's identity, life experiences, and learning, which is why it is so important for educators to become familiar with these various global cultures. The English as a Second Language (ESL) program provides Interpretation and Translation service for the entire school district to help our schools/programs communicate effectively with limited English speaking families.

    Job Description

    Salary Schedule 1A Grade 6 (ATTACHED)
    Starting Annual Range $18,693.95-$20,893.73
    Working Calendar:187 Days/7.0 hours per day

    Minimum Qualifications:
    • High School Diploma or G.E.D. Passing score on the Kentucky Paraeducator Assessment (KPA) or 48 college semester hours. Official Transcripts are required.
    • Demonstrated proficiency of two (2) languages, English and the appropriate language.
    • Experience in working with children and parents with special needs, multi-cultural and multi-ethnic backgrounds.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Associate degree or minimum of 64 semester hours of college. Official Transcripts are required.
    • Demonstrated proficiency of two (2) languages, English and the appropriate language.

    Starting Annual Range $21,161.81-$24,649.38
    Working Calendar: 187 Days/7.0 hours per day

    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree. Official Transcripts are required.
    • Three (3) years successful teaching experience.
    • Demonstrated proficiency of two (2) languages, English and the appropriate language.
    • Experience in working with children and parents with special needs, multi-cultural and multi-ethnic backgrounds.
