Our Thomas Fleming Elementary School is looking to hire a dedicated, high energy person to serve as lunch room/recess monitor for our third and fourth grade students. The ideal candidates will have experience working with children (preferably in large group settings) and must either have experience with (or be interested in receiving training in) Responsive Classroom student management techniques. Schedule is 3 hours/day on school days, 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Positions pay $15.79/hour.
Job duties shall include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Organizes group games and activities.
- Monitor and supervises students at lunch and playtime.
- Enforce playground and lunchroom rules, and behavior expectations.
- Assist children with opening food in lunchroom, and encourage them to eat their lunch.
- Resolve student behavior conflicts using de-escalation strategies.
- Assumes responsibility for play equipment.
- Takes part in in-service training programs, as appropriate.
- Directs movement of groups to and from playground.
- Respond to student injuries and provide first aide as necessary.
Candidates with the following qualifications are encouraged to apply:
- Experience working with elementary aged students.
- Understanding of the developmental growth of elementary-aged students.
- Excellent oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to engage students
- Ability to effectively redirect/manage behaviors as appropriate; background or training in de-escalation desirable, but training will be provided.
- Commitment and dedication to a safe and respectful learning environment for all.
