Colonial Heights (VA) Public Schools Announcement of Superintendent Search The School Board of Colonial Heights (VA) Public Schools invites applications and nominations for the position of Superintendent.  The anticipated start date is July 1, 2019.

THE CITY Colonial Heights, located in southeastern Virginia and originally a part of Chesterfield County, became a town in 1926 and an incorporated city in 1948. Its current charter as a fully-independent city was granted in 1960. Colonial Heights' history goes back much further, however, as it was the site of significant battles during both the American Revolution and the Civil War.

THE DIVISION Mission: Colonial Heights Public Schools, in partnership with the home and the community, will provide each student with a relevant, quality education. The skills taught shall enable each student to become a self-sufficient, productive member of the global society prepared to enter the job market and/or continue his/her education.

QUALIFICATIONS The board has established the following qualifications for the next superintendent of Colonial Heights Public Schools:

• Residency in the school division will be required by January 1, 2020.
• Teaching or public school administration experience is preferred.
• Experience as a central office administrator is preferred.
• Experience as a superintendent or associate/assistant superintendent is preferred.
• An earned doctorate degree is preferred.
• Must furnish a 250-word statement regarding Colonial Heights Public Schools, including core values, achievements, and challenges.
• Must list three (3) references, who are to be contacted via skype.
