Burlington Early Education Program Head Start Substitute

A. General Duties

- Serve as classroom teacher for assigned program option site
- Provide & maintain safe, healthy, friendly & developmentally appropriate environments for pre-school children,
- Support the classroom team to maintain the site in compliance with Head Start Performance Standards & Vermont Child Care Regulations, including daily set-up & clean-up of classroom in order to maintain a healthy environment.
- Together with the classroom team, follow the CVHS Active Supervision of Children Protocol.

B. Head Start Required Services

1. Education Services

- Assist in planning & implementing CVHA curriculum, lesson plans & services in order to provide a developmentally appropriate educational program.

- Assist teachers in documenting observations to inform ongoing child assessments.

- Utilize principles based upon the Early Multi-Tiered System of Supports (EMTSS) promoting positive interactions with children.

2. Health Services

- Assist the team in supporting health & safety practices to include tooth brushing, hand washing & other personal & self- care tasks.

3. Family Services

- Greet families at drop-off & pick-up time.

C. Record-keeping, monitoring, and assuring compliance with regulation and policies

- Submit all required paperwork, electronic submissions & documentation to supervisor as required.

Minimum Requirements, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

- At least eighteen (18) years of age

- High School graduate or completed GED & relevant work experience.

- Knowledge & experience in developmentally appropriate early childhood practices, child behavior management and a team approach in early education settings.

- Excellent verbal & written communication skills required; bilingual abilities are a plus!
