Description
The Transition Services Coordinator is responsible for ensuring MVCA's compliance with the Michigan Department of Education's mandate for the inclusion of transition services in all Michigan schools.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

• Develops, coordinates, and oversees the implementation of a transition plan for managing transition services for MVCA students, monitors teacher accountability and student success
• Assists teachers with the development of transition plans and participates in IEP meetings
• Conducts internal audit reviews of student files and/or teacher documentation for teacher accountability;
• Provides initial and ongoing professional development training for staff in order to build capa
city for transition service delivery for students
• Establishes and leads a Parent Advisory Committee for Student Transition Services
• Provides necessary assistance to students who desire to participate in or attend vocational schools, the military, post-secondary options, college, etc.
• Investigates and build community support State wide for transition experiences for students
• Seeks assistance of county agencies to provide job coaching
• Support instructional staff with home visits
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong presentation skills
• Organizational skills, multi-tasking abilities
• Ability to work without direct supervision
• Flexible schedule; Ability to travel up to 75%
• Ability to pass required background check
Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• A bachelor's degree in Special Education
• A minimum of 3 years of satisfactory teaching experience in special or vocational education at the secondary level; or a minimum of 3 years of satisfactory employment providing transition-related service to individuals with disabilities between the ages of 13 to 26 years.
• Michigan Transition Coordinator Licensure

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Master's Degree in Special Education
• Previous experience as a Transition Coordinator in the State of Michigan
