The Chicago Public Schools (CPS) has set ambitious goals to ensure that every childin every school and every neighborhoodhas access to a world-class learning experience from birth, resulting in graduation from high school college- and career-ready.

The ERP Analyst provides the business community (HR, Payroll, Learning Management, and others) day-to-day PeopleSoft technology support and guidance. This position maintains and develops state-of-the-art systems by leveraging industry best practices for development, change control, version control, migrations, testing, standards, and procedures.

The ERP Analyst will be held accountable for the following responsibilities:

  • Liaison with Human Capital management to provide the business community with day-to-day PeopleSoft technology support and guidance

  • Maintain and develop a state-of-the-art system by leveraging industry best practices for development, change control, version control, migrations, testing, standards, and procedures

  • Maintain a regulatory compliant and an up-to-date application by applying timely patches, fixes, upgrades, and releases

  • Keep current regarding industry trends in order to recommend the best technologies for CPS

    Principal Accountabilities:

  • Work with HR, Compensation, Payroll, Benefits, Learning Management, Finance, and other functional areas to gather requirements or troubleshoot problems

  • Interview users to determine need and translate functional requirements into detailed technical design specifications

  • Develop reports, interfaces, conversion, and online customizations utilizing PeopleSoft or 3rd party technologies

  • Develop test plans and perform Unit, System, Integration, Quality Assurance (QA), and other required testing

  • Perform PeopleSoft upgrades (patches/fixes, PeopleTools, application, tax updates) and document the changes to facilitate future audits

  • Administer PeopleSoft security

  • Perform object and data migrations

  • Develop core competency with multiple PeopleSoft modules and exercise a thorough knowledge of institutional business processes

  • Develop core competency with multiple PeopleSoft technologies (SQR, PeopleTools, PeopleCode, SQL, etc)

  • Create and/or update HRIT team documentation (processes, workflows, data flows, systems, etc...) as required

  • Assist with batch scheduling and operations support

  • Provide periodic 24/7 on-call general support

  • Learn and utilize HRIT project methodologies

  • Mentor other team members as required

  • Manage and/or coordinate PeopleSoft projects as required

  • Review other team members' tasks and deliverables as required

  • Maintain current knowledge of technologies and "best practices"



Minimum Qualification

This is a job family posting (ERP Analyst/Sr. ERP Analyst), and experience will be the determining factor.

ERP Analyst

Type of Education Required :

  • Graduation from an accredited College or University with a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or Management Information Systems, or related field



Type of Experience and Number of Years :

  • Two years or more of PeopleSoft development experience including PeopleSoft HCM 9.2 and PeopleTools 8.5x



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

  • In-depth experience with some of the following PeopleSoft technologies:

    • PeopleSoft Security, Tax updates, Workflow, Portal,

    • Patches/Fixes, PeopleTools (8.49 or higher),

    • PeopleCode, Application Engine, Integration Tools,

    • SQR/SQL, Query manager, Component Interface,

    • Process Scheduler, and Integration Broker

  • Knowledge of core functionality for some of the following PeopleSoft (8.9 or higher) modules:



Human Resources, Benefits Administration, Position Management, Payroll, Time and Labor, HRMS Portal Pack, Workflow, eBenefits, ePay, Talent Acquisition Manager, Candidate Gateway, eCompensation, eProfile, eLearning, Learning Manage ment

  • Ability to translate functional requirements into technical specifications

  • Ability to analyze business problems and advocate best solutions

  • Possess exceptional project management skills, understand full project life cycle

  • Customer service-oriented - "Business drives the technology"

  • Excellent problem solving and organizational skills.

  • Excellent oral and written communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrate ability to work in a team environment, with strong interpersonal skills and desire to grow professionally.

  • Ability to resolve issues quickly and effectively



Those Considered for the Senior ERP Analysis will have the above qualification and experience and the following:

Type of Education Required :

  • PeopleSoft Certification is preferred



Type of Experience and Number of Years :

  • Five years or more of PeopleSoft development experience including PeopleSoft HCM 9.2 and PeopleTools 8.5x

  • Three years or more of PeopleSoft upgrade experience



Residency Requirement:

As a condition of employment with the Chicago Public Schools (CPS), employees are required to live within the geographic boundaries of the City of Chicago within six months of his or her CPS hire date and maintain residency throughout their employment with the district.
