Qualifications:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to completion graduation from high school, supplemented by completion of an acceptable apprentice-level plumbing training program and possession of a Commonwealth of Virginia backflow certification, plus four years of progressively more responsible experience with fire sprinkler systems. Can demonstrate knowledge and skills in the use of, methods, materials, equipment, and tools pertinent to the plumbing or fire sprinkler trade; knowledge of common hazards and necessary safety precautions; awareness of applicable local, state, and national codes; ability to read and interpret instructions, diagrams, sketches, blueprints, and manufacturers' manuals; capability to estimate time and material needs, determine when repair is not economically practical, and perform routine tasks and arithmetic computations; knowledge of basic computer skills; and strength and dexterity necessary to perform all required tasks including lifting, stooping, bending, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Valid driver's license with a good driving record. May be required to work an evening and/or night shift on a regular or rotating basis, accept call-back overtime or regular overtime, and/or agree to assume an emergency call-out list status.
