Job Description:

Camelot Education, a leader in providing special education services, is recruiting creative, compassionate and caring individuals to join our team. We are seeking a full-time Art Therapist to split time between our campus located in Belvidere and Hoffman Estates, IL . These programs serve students PreK-21 and provide quality academic and therapeutic services to students with Developmental Disabilities including Autism. Students are supported by a team of professionals that include School Administrators, Special Education Teachers and Paraprofessionals, Social Workers and Related Services.


The art therapist will provide individual and group therapy based on referrals by the student's interdisciplinary treatment team. The art therapist works closely with each students' team to ensure that behavior plans are being followed and that the student is progressing towards their goals. In addition the art therapist will work closely with the expressive therapy department in order to streamline referrals, assessments, and services.

Duties Include but are not limited to:
Observes, assesses, and places students in appropriate expressive therapy service
Provides individual, dyad, and group art therapy
Develops expressive therapy treatment plan
Collaborates with treatment team as necessary
Participates in interdisciplinary treatment planning
Provides in-service training to team members as appropriate, and in conjunction with expressive therapy team and/or clinical teams.
Documents in students' files according to requirements of regulatory agencies
Participates in supervision for art therapist
Maintains licensure according to state and federal regulations

Experience and Skills:

  • A Master's degree in Art Therapy from an accredited University
  • ATR, ATR-BC, ATCS or LPC/LCPC license or are license eligible
  • Strong art based assessment skils
  • Ability to work independently at multiple sites within the agency
  • Ability to communicate effectively with professional/students/families
  • Experience working children and adolescents in a therapeutic setting preferred
  • Proven ability and working knowledge with Microsoft software applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
