TALENT and PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SUPERVISOR
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Plan and coordinate the recruitment and retention of certified staff for the Department of Education. Assist in the planning and coordination of relevant in-service training programs and manage the TEAM program.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:
This is a responsible professional and administrative position reporting to the Chief Academic Officer, collaborating with the Director of Personnel. It involves responsibility for the planning, development, and coordination of all facets of recruiting and retention of certified staff. In addition, will develop and implement a minority recruiting and retention program to ensure cultural diversity in the hiring and promoting of teachers and administrators. Assists in the planning, development and scheduling of in-service training programs that focus on certified staff and their career paths. Train staff in culturally responsive education, manage the TEAM program and work with the Director of Personnel on aligned projects.
EXAMPLES OF WORK : (Illustrative only)
Performs complex professional-level work in the areas of recruitment and retention of minority certified staff.
Create and implement a comprehensive strategic recruitment and retention plan for the district.
Provides culturally responsive training for staff.
Uses multiple modes of communication to support the mission and goals of minority recruitment and retention.
Prepares and coordinates programs and job fairs for certified staff recruitment.
Implement the district evaluation plans and system toward the continuous improvement of all certified staff.
Member of the Professional Development and Evaluation Committee with the Chief Academic Officer
Plans, organizes, coordinates and implements in-service training programs in collaboration with the Chief Academic Officer.
Inform employees of available training or educational opportunities that may aid in developing their capabilities.
Attends workshops and seminars in order to locate source material for in-service programs.
Keeps records of in-service training sessions.
Attends meetings of the Board of Education as necessary.

Serves as liaison with minority recruiting print agencies, internet sites, schools, colleges, minority community groups, and professional organizations.
Develops and implements a minority recruiting program to assist in maintaining cultural diversity in the hiring and promoting of teachers and administrators.
Develops and implements a minority teacher workplace adjustment and retention program.
Work to obtain grants for minority teacher recruitment and retention.
Develop and implement school based focus for students in the teaching profession.
Coordinate with professional organizations and community groups to increase minority teacher applications.
Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND AB ILIT IES:
Comprehensive knowledge of modern principles and practices of education. Experience in interviewing prospective applicants for employment. Working knowledge of the educational certification process. Ability to prepare a variety of written reports and to comprehend complex oral and written material. Ability to work effectively with others. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Experience in various software applications to include Microsoft Office and Access.
ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE & TRAINING:
Current Certification from the Connecticut Department of Education with Endorsement 092 or its future equivalent. Five years of successful classroom teaching. Three years of successful experience in an administrative/leadership position preferred. Experience in an urban school district and/or a multi-cultural environment preferred. This is a grant funded union position that exists as long as the Alliance grant funds are available.
